Maple Leafs vs Kraken Odds & Picks: Toronto Looks To Avoid Third Straight Road Loss

The Toronto Maple Leafs (30-12-3) try to avoid their third consecutive defeat Monday night when they visit the Seattle Kraken (16-28-4). Seattle comes in fresh off a win and is 5-5 in its last 10 games, which makes for an interesting Maple Leafs vs Kraken prediction.

Maple Leafs vs Kraken Odds & Analysis

Sportsbook Odds

It’s no surprise the Maple Leafs opened as heavy favorites and despite dropping the first two games of their three-game road trip, the Leafs will likely remain as such prior to puck drop. With such lopsided odds, finding value in a Maple Leafs vs Kraken prediction becomes difficult but the OVER at +105 is looking like a decent path.

Maple Leafs Must Finish Road Trip On A Positive Note

The Maple Leafs lost the first two assignments on their western swing, falling 5-2 to the Calgary Flames on Thursday and 3-2 to the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday night.

The Canucks were without top defenseman Quinn Hughes when they upset the Leafs but it was a hot goaltender that stymied Toronto, with Thatcher Demko making 51 saves to steal the victory.

That outcome is less likely against the Kraken, who give up an average of 3.46 goals per game, the sixth-worst mark in the NHL, and often struggle to generate offense. They nipped Anaheim 4-3 in their most recent outing Friday, marking only the second time in their last seven games that they’ve scored more than two goals.

Both Jack Campbell and Petr Mrazek have failed to impress on this road trip, which complicates the Maple Leafs vs Kraken prediction. Campbell gave up five goals on 26 shots in the Leafs’ loss to Calgary and Mrazek was outplayed by Demko on Saturday.

Kraken Searching For Rare Back-To-Back Wins

The Kraken showed their resiliency as a group by winning a back-and-forth game against the Ducks, led by a two-goal effort from Ryan Donato, who’s playing for his fourth NHL team in as many seasons.

With only 16 total wins in their first season, it’s not often the Kraken have a shot at winning back-to-back games. Seattle’s biggest weakness has been their lackluster defensive play, which often puts them in a position where they’re forced to battle back from significant deficits.

Offensively, the Kraken rank 25th in the league by averaging 2.63 goals per game. They’re led by Jared McCann’s 30 points in 43 games but continue to play without Jaden Schwartz and Brandon Tanev, whose absences could impact the Maple Leafs vs Kraken prediction.

Maple Leafs vs Kraken Pick & Insights

Maple Leafs: Keys To Victory

The Leafs are a healthy squad that will be desperate to end their road trip on a positive note. If they get improved goaltending, they should have a simple time overpowering Seattle’s defense. The Leafs have scored only two goals in each of their last two games. That number should see a significant increase Monday with the top power play in the league set to influence the Maple Leafs vs Kraken pick.

Kraken: Keys To Victory

Although there aren’t many to highlight, sticking to their strengths will be the only path to a Kraken victory. They’ll have to limit the Maple Leafs’ top offensive threats by turning in a solid defensive effort, and hope for some offensive production from McCann, Donato and others.
