Caps’ California Trip Continues in L.A.
Six of the Washington Capitals’ next eight games come on the road, including a possible Stanley Cup preview when they visit the Los Angeles Kings as their California road trip continues at Staples Center Wednesday night.
At online shop Sportsbook, the Kings are offered at -125 in moneyline markets with the Caps at -105. The total is tabbed at 5 goals with OVER at -120 and UNDER at -110.
The Capitals began their California trip with a 2-1 shootout win over the Anaheim Ducks Monday night. After visiting the Kings Wednesday, they travel up the Pacific coast and stop in San Jose to face the Sharks. No team in the Metropolitan Division has swept its way through California yet this season, but the Caps got off to a promising start.
Despite a 3-1 loss in Washington back on February 16, the Kings have had a decided edge in head-to-head meetings with the Capitals. Los Angeles has gone 8-2 in their last 10 meetings with Caps and has won five-straight meetings with the Caps in L.A. In fact, Washington’s last win in Los Angeles came way back on December 14, 2005.
One thing to note when it comes to betting the Caps: One-goal games are becoming the norm with this team. Entering Wednesday’s tilt with the Kings, the Capitals have played in 11-consecutive one-goal games and 13 of their last 14 have been decided by a single goal. That is a glaring number, especially considering the Caps are normally -1.5 in puckline markets.
Tonight looks to be different as they will be puckline dogs and there is certainly not a ton of value backing the puckline, but the Caps at +1.5 might be a strong candidate for parlay cards Wednesday.
