Capitals vs Oilers Odds & Betting: Oilers Look For Bounce-Back vs Tired Caps
There’s no denying the Edmonton Oilers (30-23-4), bitten by the injury bug and losers of three in a row, are in bad shape as they chase a playoff berth. They’ll try to turn things around Wednesday night as they host the Washington Capitals (31-18-9) in an even matchup reflected in the Capitals vs Oilers prediction.

Ovechkin Continues To Pace Washington Attack
The Capitals began their Alberta swing by nipping the Calgary Flames 5-4 on Tuesday night behind a two-goal effort from Alex Ovechkin. The ageless sniper now has 36 goals on the season, good for fourth in the NHL.
Evgeny Kuznetsov is also putting together an excellent campaign for the Caps with 53 points in 55 games. He had an assist Wednesday against the Flames and now has points in five of his last six games.
Washington sits fourth in the Metropolitan Division, six points behind both the Rangers and Penguins, but is comfortably positioned in a wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference.
The Caps have won three in a row on the heels of three straight losses and upped their impressive road record to 17-7-4 with Tuesday’s win in Calgary.
Edmonton’s Injuries Too Much To Overcome
The Oilers have now lost three straight games after a 3-1 setback to the Flames in Calgary on Monday night and sit four points behind the Vegas Golden Knights in the race for third place in the Pacific Division. They’re also three points out of a wild-card spot in the Western Conference.
They return home to play the Capitals, though that might not be a considerable advantage in making a Capitals vs Oilers pick given Washington’s road exploits and their own mediocre 14-12-0 mark at Rogers Place.
The Oilers downed the Caps 5-3 in Washington in their first meeting of the season last month, led by a three-point performance from Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. But Nugent-Hopkins is now sidelined with a shoulder injury, part of a lengthy Oilers injury list that also includes Tyson Barrie, Kris Russell and Jesse Puljujarvi.
Capitals vs Oilers Pick & Insights
Capitals: Keys To Victory
It’s incredible to think that an Ovechkin-led team boasts such a terrible power-play percentage (17.7%) but the Caps must remain disciplined on Wednesday as the Oilers have a sizable edge in that department. Despite having played the night before, a healthy Caps squad should be able to take advantage of an Oilers team that is low on morale.
Oilers: Keys To Victory
Washington’s matchup against one of the best teams in the league on Tuesday night could leave them in a battered state for this one. The Oilers will also want to avoid the penalty box – while the Caps have an anemic power play, Edmonton’s penalty-killing efficiency is equally bad at 26th in the league.
