After former President Donald Trump was attacked at a rally in Pennsylvania over the weekend, several sportsbooks in Ontario, Canada decided to remove markets involving the U.S. Presidential Election, including the Winning Party and exact person to win the Presidency.
Sportsbooks in the United States are restricted from offering markets on the Presidential Election, but they are available in Ontario, overseas and in the offshore markets.
Trump had been around a -250 favorite to win the Election on Monday morning at several sportsbooks in Ontario, while Joe Biden (+400) and Kamala Harris (10-1) have the next-best odds.
FanDuel, DraftKings and BetMGM made the decision on Monday morning to remove the Election markets because of the events over the weekend.
“In light of recent events, FanDuel has made the decision to suspend its US election markets,” a FanDuel spokesperson said.
FanDuel did not speak about if the odds will be put back up or if wagers placed in Ontario on the Election before Monday’s suspension of odds would be graded as action or refunded.
