NRFI Picks Today: Mets-Braves Meet In High-Stakes Game

We've got two NRFI picks today. First off, I'll take a NRFI bet in the Mets vs Braves contest, where our pitching matchup works perfectly. Before that, though, I'm counting on a NRFI in the Brewers vs Pirates contest

See our MLB NRFI picks today!

NRFI Pick Today: Brewers vs Pirates (-125)

Brewers vs Pirates Odds -- Game Time 6:40 p.m. ET

The Pirates have been an excellent NRFI bet all season, rocking a lousy .215  BA in the first inning and generally lacking life on offense all year. And while the Bucs are an easy fade, the Brewers aren't any more reliable in the first inning either, batting .225. Yet when you compare the records, the Pirates are 90-66 NRFI, while the Brewers are 79-77 NRFI. That's because Milwaukee's pitchers are responsible for goofing up a lot of clean innings.

Now, we have Tobias Myers (16-8 NRFI) on the hill for Milwaukee. He stunk at the start of the year but has since rattled off eight consecutive NRFIs to bring his first-inning ERA to 3.75. Bailey Falter (18-8 NRFI) isn't quite as reliable on the Pittsburgh side, but the matchup suggests a NRFI is in order, especially with both teams comfortably resigned to their fates. For the Bucs, it's another autumn off; for Milwaukee, it's time to prep for the playoffs.

NRFI Pick Today: Mets vs Braves (-115)

Mets vs Braves Odds -- Game Time 7:20 p.m. ET

Luis Severino day! The rejuvenated Mets starter is among baseball's best first-inning men at 28-2 NRFI with 19 consecutive NRFIs. 19 in a row! Severino has allowed just three earned runs in 30 starts, and I reckon he will deliver another great performance with the Mets fighting for their life.

This Braves-Mets series will be incredible, and the winner likely walks away with a playoff berth. Neither Atlanta (.248 BA) nor New York (.225) are great first-inning offenses, so there could be a lack of scoring despite all the hype.

Meanwhile, Spencer Schwellenbach (17-2 NRFI) goes for the Braves with an excellent first-inning record. He has delivered a 1.42 ERA in 19 starts, while opponents hit for a .407 OPS. The rook will hold strong as the perfect complement to a Severino start today.
