Nets vs Warriors Betting Preview
The Golden State Warriors (23-23 SU, 22-23-1 ATS) are 10-4 SU in their last 14 games against the Brooklyn Nets (28-17 SU, 22-23 ATS) but just 1-5 ATS in their last six games against them. The Warriors will have the opportunity to end that ATS slump with a win and cover when they take on the Nets in San Francisco this Sunday night.
The last game between these two teams came in December when Brooklyn blew Golden State away in a 143-113 blowout as 10.5-point favorites at home. That game went comfortably OVER the posted total of 223.5 points, breaking a 9-2 run on the UNDER these two teams had compiled over their previous 11 meetings.
Latest Betting Notes: Nets
After losing their previous three games as a favorite, the Nets got the job done as a 4.5- point underdog in a 117-106 road win over the Utah Jazz on Friday night. Kyrie Irving was sensational in the win with 48 points, 11 rebounds and six assists. The Nets were 0-4 SU and ATS in the four games leading up to their victory over Utah.
Kevin Durant is not due to return from his knee injury until next month. The Nets were 14-1 SU and 9-6 ATS in the 15 games they played prior to Durant's injury and are 1-4 SU and ATS since.
Latest Betting Notes: Warriors
The Warriors bounced back nicely from their late-game collapse against the Boston Celtics on Thursday night with a 120-114 upset win on the road over the Cleveland Cavaliers as 10.5-point underdogs on Friday night. Jordan Poole led the Warriors with 32 points as Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins all had the night off to rest on the second game of a back-to-back.
Golden State is 8-5 SU and 8-4-1 since Christmas Day including a current stretch of 3-2 SU and 4-1 ATS over its last five games. The Warriors return to San Francisco after a five-game road trip looking to snap an 0-3 SU and ATS losing streak at home.
The Keys to Victory: Nets
Kyrie Irving obviously isn't going to hit eight three-pointers and score 48 points every night. But it is clear that the Nets' star point guard is going to need to continue to produce at a high level to pick up the slack left behind in Kevin Durant's absence. Irving took 27 shots in a 30-point performance against the Phoenix Suns on Thursday and 29 shots in the win over Utah.
The Nets also need to buckle down on defense to have success with Durant out of the lineup. Brooklyn is 0-4 SU and ATS in the last four games it has given up 109 points or more in compared to an 8-1 SU and 6-3 ATS mark in the last nine games it has allowed under 109 points in.
The Keys to Victory: Warriors
Golden State is 2-1 SU and 3-0 ATS over its last three games and could very easily be 3-0 SU if not for its poor showing in the fourth quarter and overtime against the Celtics. It has also been a positive sign to see Stephen Curry getting back on track with 70 points scored in his last two games played.
The Warriors have been on a roll on offense averaging 125.4 points per game over their last five games. The team's strong shooting should be enough to pick up an outright win over the Nets at home, but covering the spread will require some strong defense, especially down the stretch in the fourth quarter.
