Nets vs Suns Betting Preview
The Phoenix Suns (21-24 SU, 22-23 ATS) are 2-0 SU and ATS in their last two games against the Brooklyn Nets (27-16, 21-22) since going 1-6 SU and 2-5 ATS in their previous seven meetings. The Suns will try to pick up another win over the Nets and break out of their current three-game losing streak with a win Thursday night in Phoenix.
The OVER is 4-2 in the last six games between the Nets and Suns and 10-2 in Phoenix’s last 12 home games against Brooklyn. For this game to go OVER the posted total, Brooklyn would need to snap a streak of 6-0 on the UNDER in its last six games.
Latest Betting Notes: Nets
The Nets’ recent woes on offense continued Tuesday night in a 106-98 loss on the road against the San Antonio Spurs as 2-point road favorites. With both Kevin Durant (knee) and Kyrie Irving (calf) out with injuries, T.J. Warren led the Nets in scoring with 19 points in 24 minutes off the bench. Brooklyn fell to 2-4 SU and 1-5 ATS over its last six games with the loss.
Irving is listed as probable to return to the lineup on Thursday night. But even with Irving playing in the team’s previous two games prior to the loss against the Spurs, the Nets are 0-3 SU and ATS in their three games since Durant’s injury, averaging only 99.3 points per game.
Latest Betting Notes: Suns
The Suns had no answers for the Memphis Grizzlies in a 136-106 blowout loss on Monday night as 12.5-point road underdogs. Mikal Bridges was Phoenix’s most productive player on offense with 21 points and seven assists. Chris Paul missed his fifth straight game with a hip injury and is listed as questionable to return on Thursday night.
Phoenix has not been able to generate offense on a consistent basis with Devin Booker out due to a groin injury, and the defense has been struggling as well, allowing 121.6 points per game over the team’s last five outings. The Suns are 2-12 SU and 5-9 ATS over their last 14 games.
Nets Player Prop: Kyrie Irving OVER 5.5 Assists (-110)
The Nets are going to need to make adjustments on offense to figure out how to get things going for the month or so that Durant is expected to be out. That may include more shot attempts from Kyrie Irving. But regardless of what adjustments are made, he still figures to be important in facilitating the rest of the offense.
Irving has recorded at least six assists in each of his last five games, including exactly six assists in his last two without Durant in the lineup. Look for that trend to continue with six or more assists against this slumping Suns defense.
Suns Player Prop: Deandre Ayton OVER 10.5 Rebounds (-110)
Deandre Ayton had an uncharacteristically poor night on the boards in Phoenix’s loss to the Grizzlies with only five rebounds. Ayton had recorded at least 11 rebounds in each of the team’s previous four games, averaging 13.5 rebounds over that stretch.
Brooklyn ranks 19th in the NBA in rebounds allowed, surrendering 43.8 rebounds per game. And with Kevin Durant out, the Nets offense figures to miss more shots to produce more opportunities for Ayton to grab rebounds. Look for the Suns’ leading rebounder to bounce back with a strong game on the glass Thursday night at home.
