Chris Paul, San Antonio Spurs

NBA Player Props Today: Spurs' Paul Assists Hunting vs Bucks

With the eyes of the basketball world zoning in on the two best teams across the NBA squaring off on Wednesday night, don't hesitate to turn your attention to the seven other matchups on the schedule for your player prop needs.

Here are three player prop expert picks for your consideration, including the Point God looking to boost his assist numbers with an OVER at plus money (+118) against the Milwaukee Bucks on January 8, 2025.

Chris Paul OVER 8.5 Assists vs. Bucks (+118)

Preview: San Antonio Spurs vs. Milwaukee Bucks, 9:30 p.m. ET

Ever since moving into second place on the all-time assists list on December 8 against his former team in the New Orleans Pelicans, Chris Paul has seemingly been on a mission to create some separation between himself and the rest of the pack by averaging eight dimes to just 1.6 turnovers in the 12 games since.

Still earning 30 minutes of playing time per game despite being 39 years of age and in his 20th season, the veteran floor general's opportunities to achieve high assist numbers are bountiful in a San Antonio Spurs offense featuring 7-foot-4 unicorn Victor Wembanyama. Wednesday's game at Fiserv Forum should prove to be valuable in achieving an OVER on 8.5 assists, which Paul has nailed in three of his last five outings. One of the games in which he didn't was still an eight-dime finish, as well.

The +118 odds signals oddsmakers aren't overly confident in this prop connecting, but it's still worth taking a flyer on as the Spurs and Bucks produced a ton of points in their two meetings a season ago (246 and 251 total points) and Paul wasn't even on the roster then.

RJ Barrett OVER 25.5 Points + Assists vs. Knicks (-104)

Preview: Toronto Raptors vs. New York Knicks, 7:30 p.m. ET

RJ Barrett must circle games against his former team in the New York Knicks on his calendar, because those matchups seem to bring the very best out of the 24-year-old Canadian wing.

His points and assists combo prop is set at 25.5 by oddsmakers at FanDuel Sportsbook, and Barrett has surpassed that twice already this season versus New York, including once at Madison Square Garden with a line of 23 points and six assists. Even with teammates Scottie Barnes and Immanuel Quickley both back in the lineup, Barrett's numbers should still remain stacked and varied, evident by his 25 points, nine rebounds, and six dimes in a blowout loss to the Milwaukee Bucks on January 6.

Barrett has also reached an OVER in four of his last five appearances and five of his last seven. Again, there's nothing quite like sticking it to your old team, and while the Knicks will likely decimate the Toronto Raptors on the scoreboard, Barrett will still get his along the way.

Nic Claxton UNDER 21.5 Points + Rebounds vs. Pistons (-102)

Preview: Detroit Pistons vs. Brooklyn Nets, 7:30 p.m. ET

The Detroit Pistons allow the fourth-fewest rebounds to opposing centers at 13.35, and Nicolas Claxton had one of his worst lines of the season back on Nov. 3 against them with just eight points and five boards in 21 minutes.

That formula should replicate itself once again on Wednesday at the Barclays Center, with the -102 odds at FanDuel Sportsbook actually being quite surprising as Claxton has reached the OVER on 21.5 points and rebounds just twice in his last 10 games and six times out of a possible 30 appearances all season.

Get in on the ground floor with this number before the sportsbooks catch on, because this feels like as sure of a thing as you'll see on Wednesday.
