Oklahoma City Thunder vs. New York Knicks Expert Picks
Oklahoma City Thunder ATS -3.5 (-106), Moneyline (-162)
Something had to give on Wednesday when the Thunder took on the Cleveland Cavaliers, but unfortunately, it was the visitors who came out on the short end by losing their first game since Dec. 1 (not including NBA Cup final). Oklahoma City hasn't dropped consecutive games since Nov. 17-19, which is also the only time its happened this season, so that reinforces any wager on the moneyline heading into this game with New York.
The Knicks are just 4-3 SU and 3-4 ATS over their last seven home outings, all of which came against opponents below them in the standings. This is the first time in 2024-25 that they're an underdog at MSG, as they've been favored by at least three points each time. The lowest spread was exactly three points against Cleveland on Oct. 28, which New York lost and failed to cover.
The Thunder are 10-2 when favored by at least 3.5 points away from the Paycom Center, but have failed to cover the spread in five of those instances. They've also prevailed over the Knicks in six of their last seven meetings, including a 117-107 win on Jan. 3.
Falling to the Cavaliers less than 48 hours ago is nothing to be ashamed of, and isn't necessarily a crack in the Thunder's armor. New York is a worthy threat with the third-best offense in basketball (119.2 points per 100 possessions), yet a superb defense is the best medicine for such an attack, so that's why Oklahoma City (103.4 points allowed per 100 possessions, first) gets the nod here.
OVER 225.5 Total Points (-110)
Taking the UNDER in the OKC-Cleveland clash proved to be a poor investment, so let's not make that mistake again. Sometimes it's best not to be infatuated by defensive numbers and anticipating low scores.
Yes, the Knicks have gone UNDER in four of their last five home games, but as we all witnessed Wednesday, playing up to your competition is very much a thing, and we could see a ton of points on the board here with both sides having something to prove on a grand stage.
Oklahoma City Thunder vs. New York Knicks Player Prop
Isaiah Hartenstein OVER 4.5 Assists (+114)
Wednesday marks Isaiah Hartenstein's first game back in New York since departing the franchise over the summer to sign a three-year contract with the Thunder. A double-double machine like him would usually steer bettors towards a points, rebounds, or combination prop, but in this case, we're going to take an assists prop at plus money with high upside.
Hartenstein is averaging 5.5 dimes over his last six games, and has hit the OVER on 4.5 assists four times during that span. He finished one short of matching his career high on Wednesday, registering eight in 30 minutes of action against Cleveland.
