The Minnesota Vikings opened up as a -4.5 point favorite over the Atlanta Falcons in a week 14 contest. The Over/Under total was set at 46.5. The line has ticked up to -5 in a few spots such as bet365 while the total has dipped a point to 45.5
We do have some recent history for this matchup from the season 2023 season. The Vikings (+3.5) flew to Atlanta and squeezed out a 31-28 win. The Over/Under was listed at 39.0 and and it went high.
Looking ahead, the Falcons fly out to my hometown for a Monday night matchup against the Raiders, while the Vikings jump back into the NFC North for a Monday night battle against the Bears.

Okay, when you stink you stink, and Kirk Cousins had a massive STINK against the Chargers this past Sunday, throwing FOUR INTs. Yes, we were on Atlanta so Kirk OWES me. Fortunately, we swept both prop plays into the bank in that game, going OVER 3.5 receptions for Bijan Robinson, he had four, and Under 0.5 interception for Justin Herbert, and he had NONE!
Back to Captain Kirk. Aside from the FOUR INTs, his other numbers were respectable. Cousins hit on 24 of 39 (61.5%) for 245 yards. This was his absolute WORST game of the season. Kirk has played in 12 games so far and the most interceptions he had was two. In his 13 year career, Captain Kirk has had a four INT game only one other time and it was back in 2014.
Cousins immediately took blame for his disaster saying, "I look to myself and say, 'I’ve got to play better. It hurts when you feel like your defense played winning football, you feel like your special teams made big plays, felt like the run game did a solid job. I’ve got to play better, and so I take responsibility. It hurts." With that four pack, Kirk leads the NFL with 13 INTs, but after all that ugly, Atlanta is still tied for the top spot in the NFC South.
Back to last year's game. Told you that the Vikes posted a 31-28 W on the road, but the cast of characters were totally different. Joshua Dobbs was at QB for the Purple People and his numbers, were okay. He hit on 20 of 30 passes for 158 yards with two TDs and no INTs. The glorious Taylor Heinicke was under center for the Falcons and his numbers (21 of 38 for 268 yards, with one TD and one INT) were also just okay.
We talked about Cousins and now a quick look at the other arm, Sam Darnold. Slinging' Sam is obviously having his best year and his numbers are quite good. He has completed 242 of 358 passes (67.6%) for 2,952 with 23 TDs and 10 INTs. The number of INTs are a big concern and so is the number of sacks this season (36). Even more concerning are the last two games when he was sacked FIVE times against the Cards and THREE times against the Bears.
Looking at the all important LEGOmetrics, how the Vikings built their 10-2 record, and recent 5-0 run, it has been against a bunch of LOSERS. So PLZ don't get TOO excited about Minny's 5-0 winning streak. They beat the Colts (6-7), Jaguars (2-10), Titans (3-9), Bears (4-8) and Cards (6-6). Not a winner in the bunch.
Captain Kirk owes me some money from last week and we'll take a +5 and run to the bank. Also, when you start to shop for props, look at my guy Bijan Robinson and go OVER total receptions, no matter what the number.
Falcons vs Vikings Prop Pick
Bijan Robinson O4.5 Receptions (+125) at bet365
Bijan has been a force out of the backfield recently, securing 27 passes over the past five games -- an average of OVER five per game. Seems like a no brainer to keep that trend rolling against the Vikings.
