Jets vs Steelers Odds & Picks Week 7: Tease Pittsburgh in Primetime

The New York Jets visit the Pittsburgh Steelers as two point favorites in a Week 7 must-win game between two potential playoff teams.

The Jets are trying to snap a three game losing streak and will be looking to improve on a disappointing 2-4 record. With a win, the Jets are right back in the playoff hunt with plenty of hope thanks to Davante Adams. With a loss, the Jets will be 2-5 and be the butt of jokes on talk shows.

Jets vs Steelers Week 7 Picks

2T, 6P Teaser: Steelers +8, Pitt-NYJ Under 44 (-125)

This game is loaded with uncertainty, and at this point in the week there are a lot of questions I'd prefer answered before making a bet. For instance, how much will new Jets wide receiver Davante Adams play? How good of a game manager is new Jets head coach Jeff Ulbrich? Will Steelers pass rushers Nick Herbig and Alex Highsmith suit up? What kind of headspace is Jets' kicker Greg Zuerlein in after missing two field goals in a nationally televised game? Will Russell Wilson be rusty?

Because I don't have these answers, I don't have enough conviction to pull the trigger on a side or total. However, with a six point buffer thanks to a teaser this bet feels comfortable. Teasing the Steelers from +2 to +8 gets us through the key numbers of 3 and 7 and going from 38 to 44 gets us through 41 and 43.

The Steelers always seem to play close games and this season four of their six games have been decided by 8 points or less. The Steelers strong defense makes it tough for opponents to build big leads on them and I don't see the Jets bucking that trend. Keep in mind also that Zuerlein will be kicking in Pittsburgh, one of the toughest NFL stadiums to kick in.

I think going from Justin Fields to Russell Wilson is a mistake and I wouldn't be surprised if we saw the Steelers offense (with a beat up offensive line) regress under Wilson's watch.

Jets vs Steelers Week 7 Props

It's still a little too early in the week for a full variety of player props for the Jets vs. Steelers game. Check back in here soon and we promise they'll be a player prop in this space prior to kickoff.

Jets vs Steelers News

Obviously the big news this week is the Jets addition of wide receiver Davante Adams from the Las Vegas Raiders. Adams has chemistry with Aaron Rodgers and the two were all smiles when discussing the trade this week. It remains to be seen how much Adams plays, but his chemistry with Rodgers and familiarity with the teams offensive concepts will help a lot.

The Steelers surprised some this week when it was announced that Russell Wilson would be taking first team reps this week meaning he'd likely start vs. the Jets. Justin Fields had 10 touchdowns (5 rushing and 5 passing) this season and only one interception and many believed his performance had solidified him as the new starter.
