Back Rodgers and the New York Jets to cover the spread in Week 3.
The Patriots mirage of overachievement can only last so long.
Robert Saleh's defensive line is far more talented than the Patriots offensive line, and I like the talents of Garrett Wilson to dominate outside.
Bet on old man Rodgers and his plethora of skill position players to cover the spread with ease. Check out my Jets vs Patriots preview for more.
Pick made as of Sept. 16
Rhamondre Stevenson has started the season well, rushing for 201 yards and two touchdowns in his first two games of the season.
However, the Jets defense is far better than the Seahawks. New York has the cover corners to shut down New England's putrid passing attack load up the box to stop Stevenson.
Fade the former Oklahoma star against the Jets stout defensive line.
Pick made Sept. 17
Stevenson has had some big games as a receiver vs. Robert Saleh defenses. For instance, in two 2022 games, he combined for 13 catches and 128 receiving yards.
Because the Jets cornerbacks are a lot stronger than the Pats WRs, I expect more targets for New England TEs and RBs in this one and Stevenson should be able to capitalize.
Jets LB C.J. Mosley is banged up and may miss this game. He's one of the best cover LBs in the league so that'd be a nice boost for Stevenson.
Bet placed at 11:52 am ET on Tuesday, September 17.
I expect the first Jets home game of the 2024 season to be a coming-out party.
New England is severely banged up on the offensive line and I see matchup advantages for the Jets in all three phases.
Aaron Rodgers gets his first chance to compete under the lights at "Jet Life Stadium" and I like the number, -6.5, and think it could move above 7 as the week progresses.
J-E-T-S -6.5.
One of the subplots of the early days of this 2024 NFL season is the kicking games. I talked about it on The Huddle ahead of the Week 2 Monday nighter, but it's something bettors should be looking at and tracking throughout these early weeks.
With that in mind, I like the Patriots run game versus this underwhelming Jets rush defense, but I don't think the Pats will be able to finish drives off with touchdowns. That's why I like Pats kicker Joey Slye OVER 1.5 field goals. He's 5-6 so far, so he's averaged three FGAs so far and I'll lean on that one tonight in Thursday Night Football.
