The Detroit Lions host the Tennessee Titans as 11-point favorites in Week 8 NFL action that features one of the hottest teams in the NFL vs. one of the coldest.
The Lions enter this contest riding a four-game winning streak and the adrenaline from last week’s game-winning field goal against the Vikings. Meanwhile, the Titans might have hit rock bottom as they are 1-5 with starting quarterback Will Levis now injured. It will be interesting to see how motivated the Titans look early in this one under first-year head coach Brian Callahan.

Titans vs Lions Picks Week 8
Lions O30.5 (+115)
This Titans defense was built with strength at the cornerback position. But L’Jarius Sneed has been awful this season (36.3 PFF grade) and missed last week’s game with an injury. The way he’s played this season, the Titans might be better off without him. On the other side, starting corner Chidobe Awuzie is on IR. What was a strength for the Titans has quickly become a weakness and it showed last week when they allowed the Bills to score 34 points.
The Lions are red hot and have eclipsed this number in their last three games. Heck, they’ve eclipsed 40 points in two of their last three games too. Jared Goff has played at an MVP level so far this season as he’s completing 76.3% of his passes. Goff loves to throw the ball to his running backs, Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery, and the Titans rank 22nd in the league at defining running backs in the passing game according to FTNfantasy.com.
The Titans allowed Josh Allen to throw for 323 yards and two touchdowns last week while rookie Ray Davis came out of nowhere to gallup for 41 yards and a touchdown on five carries. Goff and company have to be licking their lips in anticipation of this matchup.
Titans vs Lions Prop Pick
Lions Over 1.5 team FGs (-125)
The Titans have a solid redzone defense (ranked No. 10 in NFL) and the Lions have a powerful offense that should get plenty of redzone opportunities in this one.
The game script for this one could include an early Lions lead and a situation where they're just running the ball in the 4th quarter and tacking on points without forcing the issue of getting touchdowns late in the game.
Titans vs Lions News
Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams was suspended two games for violating the league's Performance-Enhancing Substance (PES) Policy. Williams, you may recall, was also suspended last season for violating the league’s gambling policy. Williams is the Lions' deep threat and was averaging 21.2 yards per catch which was good enough for 361 yards and three touchdowns this season. Without Williams in the lineup, expect Tim Patrick and Kalif Raymond to get extra snaps.
Will Levis has already been ruled out for the Titans and that means QB Mason Rudolph will be making his second consecutive start. Last week, Rudolph threw for 215 yards, one touchdown, and one interception on 25-for-40 passing.
Wednesday update: Since our last update, the Titans have traded away WR DeAndre Hopkins and LB Ernerst Jones. Hopkins netted them a 5th round pick that could turn into a 4th round pick, while Jones will got them Jerome Baker and a 4th round pick.
