As the NFL regular season races to a finish, I'm back with two more Anytime Touchdown bets for this Week 17 slate.
This week, we're doubling up on a Bucky Irving prop and betting on one of Philadelphia's wideouts to take over the game, even with a backup QB at the helm. Check out a breakdown for my Anytime TD below:
Week 17 NFL Anytime Touchdown Scorer Bets
Record | Unit Profit |
---|---|
9-20 | -4.06 |
Bucky Irving Anytime Touchdown (-140)
If it ain't broke... Our NFL expert Mitch Bannon hit on an Irving touchdown last week, so I'll back the Bucs rookie rusher to get it done again.
Irving has a score in three of his last five contests (one of those misses was due to an early game injury), and he draws a very favorable matchup Sunday at home against the Panthers. Carolina allows more rushing yards per game to running backs (141.1) than any other team, yielding 1.07 rushing TDs per game. Only the Saints are worse at allowing TDs to running backs.
The -140 odds aren't superb, but you can't deny a bet like that in your weekend bankroll. Plus, an Irving anytime TD makes for a fine first leg in an expansive NFL Week 17 parlay.
AJ Brown Anytime Touchdown (+155)
While Kenny Pickett at QB may terrify Eagles fans, I'm actually encouraged at what this means for Brown's TD prospects. Last week, the veteran wideout reeled in eight catches for 97 yards and a TD (thrown by Pickett). Oftentimes, I crappier QB means the big-time wideouts get more looks, or, hell, all the looks. When in doubt, chuck it to Brown.
The Cowboys aren't a bad draw for this bet either. Dallas is 15th in the NFL, allowing an average of one score per game to opposing wideouts. However, the Cowboys defense also yields 160 yards per game to receivers, which ranks 27th in football.

Week 17 First Touchdown Scorer Bets
If you want to risk it even a little further, here are the odds for Irving and Brown's first touchdown scorer bets this week at BetMGM, as well as a few other 1st TD wagers I like this week:
- Bucky Irving (TB) 1st TD: +450
- AJ Brown (PHI) 1st TD: +700
- Josh Allen (BUF) 1st TD: +550
- Jahmyr Gibbs (DET) 1st TD: +260
If you're looking to do your own research for 1st TD scorer picks this week, BetMGM has a breakdown of every first and second TD in every game so far this season.
BetMGM is also, generally, a good place to lock in these first TD scorer picks, because of the book's 'Second Chance Promotion.' It's a promo that offers bettors the chance to win back their stake if a first touchdown scorer doesn't open the game with a TD, but ends up being the second scorer.
How To Understand NFL Anytime Touchdown Scorer Odds
The time has come that you finally want to bet on some NFL props instead of sides and totals and you’ve decided on the NFL Anytime Touchdown Scorer props. This is a fun choice because props are like games within the game that may or may not have a direct impact on the outcome of the game.
When you go to your online sportsbook to look at NFL Anytime Touchdown Scorer odds for our recommended bets, for instance, the odds available to bet on might be presented like this:
Cooper Kupp – Rams +120
Tee Higgins – Bengals +150
Similar to a moneyline bet where favorites would be marked with the minus sign (-) and underdogs with the plus sign (+), the favorite to score a touchdown is a player with the lowest odds, which in this case is Cooper Kupp. Based on Kupp’s implied odds from sportsbooks, he has a 45.45 percent chance to score a touchdown.
Let’s say you think Tee Higgins will score a touchdown in this game. In order to make $100 in profit, you would need to bet $66.67. If you make that bet and Higgins scores, your $66.67 original bet is returned and you win $100 in profit.
On the flip side, part of the allure of NFL Anytime Touchdown Scorer wagers is the big paydays you could receive for being right and picking a player who doesn’t score as often as Kupp or Higgins. In this case, you decide to bet on the Bengals’ Joe Burrow at +500.
If you bet $100 on Burrow and he finds the end zone in the game, you would get $600 returned to you. Your original $100 bet is refunded and the sportsbook will give you $500 in profit for your winning bet.
