NFL Trade Deadline Odds: Who Will Be Traded?
Jimmy Garoppolo, Quarterback, San Francisco 49ers
Option | Odds |
---|---|
San Francisco 49ers | -10000 |
Denver Broncos | +750 |
Houston Texans | +750 |
New England Patriots | +1000 |
Dallas Cowboys | +1000 |
Odds as of November 1 at [Sportsbook not available for your region]
When the San Francisco 49ers drafted quarterback Trey Lance third overall in the most recent NFL draft, there was plenty of speculation that Jimmy Garoppolo’s days in the Bay Area were done. But through eight games this season, Garoppolo has made every start but one, missing Week 5 due to injury.
The team is 3-4, and it feels like the part of the season where teams hand the reins over to a rookie QB who has been waiting in the wings. However, there is speculation that head coach Kyle Shanahan was persuaded by management to take Lance in the first place, which could be the reason for his reluctance to start the rookie. The Niners also likely feel that they have a roster good enough to make a playoff push in the second half of the year. That’s why staying in San Francisco is the overwhelming favorite destination for Garoppolo in NFL trade deadline odds.
You aren’t making any money on this bet. But it’s a safe one.
Melvin Gordon, Running Back, Denver Broncos
Option | Odds |
---|---|
Denver Broncos | -250 |
Buffalo Bills | +325 |
Arizona Cardinals | +325 |
Atlanta Falcons | +700 |
Philadelphia Eagles | +950 |
Odds as of November 1 at [Sportsbook not available for your region]
The Broncos traded longtime superstar and former Super Bowl MVP Von Miller ahead of the trade deadline, so do they continue to sell off pieces in a season when the team is likely to finish outside the playoffs?
The Broncos drafted running back Javonte Williams in the second round of this year’s draft and could quite easily turn to the rookie as their bell cow if they want to. Gordon is also due to be a free agent after this season.
However, Denver beat reporters and uber-connected insider Adam Schefter have reported it is “unlikely” the Broncos deal Gordon, even if the move makes a ton of sense from an outside perspective.
We’re betting Gordon stays put as well.
Will Fuller, Wide Receiver, Miami Dolphins
Option | Odds |
---|---|
Miami Dolphins | -325 |
Tampa Bay Buccaneers | +400 |
Green Bay Packers | +400 |
Pittsburgh Steelers | +1100 |
New Orleans Saints | +1100 |
San Francisco 49ers | +1200 |
Odds as of November 1 at [Sportsbook not available for your region]
It has been a disastrous season for the Miami Dolphins and perhaps nothing sums up their season better than Will Fuller’s stint with the team this year.
Fuller signed a one-year deal with the Fins in the offseason coming off his best season as a pro, posting 53 receptions for 879 yards and eight touchdowns last year in Houston.
Fuller served a one-game suspension in Week 1 this year, missed Week 2 due to a personal issue, had four catches for a combined 26 yards in Weeks 3 and 4 and has missed every game since with a broken thumb.
With the Dolphins season done sitting at 1-7, trading Fuller (who will return at some point this season) seems like a solid move.
Green Bay at +400 and New Orleans at +1100 are logical destinations with attractive odds.
Marcus Maye, Safety, New York Jets
Option | Odds |
---|---|
New York Jets | -190 |
Kansas City Chiefs | +325 |
Cleveland Browns | +550 |
Carolina Panthers | +550 |
Indianapolis Colts | +750 |
Dallas Cowboys | +1000 |
Odds as of November 1 at [Sportsbook not available for your region]
The Jets had a big surprise win over the Bengals in Week 8, but the team has no realistic shot at making the playoffs. Teams in those situations are always primed for a sell-off of overpriced veterans to teams in the playoff hunt.
Marcus Maye fits the bill as his cap hit of over $10 million is the second-highest on the team and he is a free agent after the season. The Jets might have to eat some of the money, but it makes sense to try to get some draft pick compensation for Maye with the team still rebuilding and his salary not really matching his play.
The Chiefs (+325) and Cowboys (+1000) make a lot of sense as teams that could use some safety help for their playoff push.
Best Bet: Marlon Mack, Running Back, Indianapolis Colts
Option | Odds |
---|---|
Indianapolis Colts | +110 |
Kansas City Chiefs | +300 |
Philadelphia Eagles | +300 |
Baltimore Ravens | +800 |
Carolina Panthers | +800 |
San Francisco 49ers | +850 |
Odds as of November 1 at [Sportsbook not available for your region]
If there is one player I think will most definitely be traded before Tuesday’s deadline, it’s Marlon Mack.
The Colts running back returned this year after a torn Achilles ended his 2020 season and has rushed 28 times for 101 yards in six games as a breather back behind Jonathan Taylor and Nyheim Hines.
The Colts also have Jordan Wilkins on the roster and he has been productive in the past, making Mack expendable. Mack is also a free agent after this season and has a low cap hit.
For any team looking for running back help, Mack, who has been in the rumor mill for weeks, is a logical target.
We like the Chiefs (+300) and Ravens (+800) as logical fits.
