Game 4: rangers vs hurricanes preview & pick
The Game: NY Rangers vs Carolina Hurricanes, 7 PM
Team | Puckline | Total | Moneyline |
---|---|---|---|
NY Rangers | +1.5 (-218) | O5.5 (-105) | +124 |
Carolina Hurricanes | -1.5 (+180) | U5.5 (-115) | -148 |
Josie's Take: Carolina is deflated. This series has been a string of gut-wrenching losses with three straight being decided by one goal and the last two being overtime battles. There's just no answer to Igor Shesterkin, who has made a whopping 99 saves across his last two starts.
I'm taking the Conn Smythe contender to complete a second-straight sweep.
Pick: Rangers ML (+124)
Michel Take: I believe Carolina has at least one win in them. Rod The Bod's men have done well controlling the shot share through this series at 274 to 228 (55%). They've also controlled the scoring opportunities with 12.48 xG to New York's 11.01.
Playing this way does win more games than you lose. I know the 3-0 series deficit screams "You're wrong Mitch", but Carolina's goaltending has let them down with Andersen going from a 0.912SV% goalie against the Islanders to 0.871SV% against the Rangers. Kochetkov wasn't much better at 0.880 in his first start.
Kochetkov should get the start and a chance to redeem himself. Throughout his career (not including playoffs), Kochetckov has averaged an excellent 0.927SV% and 2.27GAA.
Carolina won't keel over and die so quickly. I've got them down for a win tonight.
Pick: Carolina ML (-148)
Game 3: Stars vs colorado preview & picks
The Game: Dallas Stars vs Colorado Avalanche, 10 PM
Team | Puckline | Total | Moneyline |
---|---|---|---|
Dallas Stars | +1.5 (-218) | O6.5 (-105) | +110 |
Colorado Avalanche | -1.5 (+180) | U6.5 (-115) | -130 |
Josie's Take: The Avs roll into Ball Arena, where they held a promising 31-9-1 SU regular season record. That's carried over into the playoffs, where Colorado is undefeated and has netted 11 goals while conceding just three.
I'll sit back and watch these two tussle back and forth tonight. But, the OVER has hit in seven of their last eight meetings. Neither goalie has been unstoppable yet so I'll comfortably play with the total.
Pick: OVER 6.5 (-105)
Michel's Take: I'm in lockstep with Josie here. The OVER is the right play. In six meetings so far this year the total has gone OVER 6.5 five times. The one time it went UNDER we saw a combined six goals. So it was really close.
We're seeing the offensive firepower both teams have in this series. Through only two games played, there have already been 2.75 goals scored above expected.
So why would we take a different bet? There hasn't been an announced change in the crease and there are no injuries to report after game two. The OVER hits tonight.
Pick: OVER 6.5 (-105)
