MLB Player Props Today: Back Belli On Opening Day

We made it. Baseball is here and I've got three MLB player props for 2025 Opening Day.

I'm hitting on the early games to get you started kicking off with a Cody Bellinger hit prop. I've also found value in Justin Steele's outs and a fade of MJ Melendez.

Cody Bellinger OVER 1.5 hits (+290 at Sportsbook)

Time for Belli to earn his pinstripes.

The Yankees' big offseason hitting addition draws a great Opening Day matchup against Freddy Peralta. In 12 career at-bats against the righty, Bellinger has a .417 average and 1.212 OPS.

Bellinger also enters this contest coming off a hot spring. The new Yankee posted a .423 average and 1.214 OPS in 19 spring games.

Justin Steele OVER 1.5 Earned Runs Allowed (-180 at Sportsbook)

Steele lasted just four innings in his season debut in Tokyo, allowing five runs and two homers. That performance came after a spring where he posted a 9.35 ERA in three outings.

On Opening Day, Steele faces a Diamondbacks team that was one of the best offenses in baseball against lefties. Arizona hit .284 against LHP in 2024, posting the second-best squad OPS against the weak side of the platoon (.794). This is a tough draw for Steele, who’s clearly not locked in yet.

MJ Melendez UNDER 0.5 Total Bases (+115 at Sportsbook)

It’s hard to take the UNDER on 0.5 total bases, because anything can happen. But, this is the type of spot to do it.

I love Tanner Bibee, who has a 3.25 ERA in his first 56 MLB starts. He posted a 1.88 ERA in three spring outings as well.

Bibee owns Melendez, historically, holding his division rival to zero hits in 12 career at-bats. Melendez has seven strikeouts in 12 at-bats against the Guardians Opening Day starter. We also know how good this Cleveland bullpen is, so it’s gonna be nine tough innings for Melendez.
