49ers vs Seahawks Odds & Picks Week 6: Niners to snap out of it

The wounded San Francisco 49ers visit the Seattle Seahawks as 3-point favorites on Thursday Night in a pivotal NFC West showdown. The total in this game is set at 47.5 as both teams have elite WR weapons and an explosive offense.

Last season, Brock Purdy's worst game of the season was vs. the Ravens whose defensive unit was coaches by Mike Macdonald, Seattle's new head coach. Macdonald's unit isn't quite as talented as what he has last season, but he knows how to attack Purdy.

49ers vs Seahawks Picks Week 6

49ers ML (-160)

San Francisco has a bad habit of losing games early in the season as favorites and getting themselves stuck in the mud. San Francisco always seems to have a crisis point that they dig themselves out of once their back is against the wall.

Last season, the 49ers lost three games in a row vs. inferior opponents (Cleveland, Minnesota, and Cincinnati) and then beat the Jaguars by 31 points in the next game and went on a six-game winning streak. In 2022, the 49ers crisis point came in Week 8 after starting the season 3-4. They responded with a 31-14 win and a 10-game winning streak to finish the season.

The 49ers crisis point is now and I think we see them play their best in a must-win game vs. a Seattle squad that struggled vs. a banged up Giants squad last week.

Seattle's offensive line is a major weakness and they were exposed vs. the Giants when Geno Smith was sacked seven times. The 49ers defensive line featuring Nick Bosa, Maliek Collins, and Leonard Floyd is overdue for a breakout game and I think this will be their spot.

Despite his poor statistical performance last week, Brock Purdy is playing better than his numbers indicate and he's added a rushing element to his game recently. Look for Purdy to his playmakers involved early and top Seattle.

49ers vs Seahawks News

San Francisco lost its kicker, Jake Moody, during Week 5's game after he tried to make a tackle on kickoff. This just in, kickers aren't very good at tackling. The 49ers were forced to use their punter, Mitch Wishnowsky, as their kicker for the rest of the game and fullback Kyle Juszczyk took over Wishnowsky's holder responsibilities.

The 49ers don't currently have a kicker on their practice squad, so they'll need to bring in a kicker on a short week to fill the gap. It's worth noting that this new kicker will be kicking in Seattle, one of the loudest stadiums in the NFL.
