Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears meet the Washington Commanders in Week 8 of the NFL season. With the uncertainty surrounding Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels rib injury, the Bears enter this one as 2.5-point road favorites, while the Commander come back as intriguing +120 moneyline home underdogs.

Bears vs Commanders Week 8 Picks
Bears -2.5
Jayden Daniels injury has thrown a wrench into the Commanders promising start to the 2024 NFL season. The rookie sensation failed to practice on Wednesday, and seems to be trending in the wrong direction ahead of Bears vs Commanders.
Kliff Kingsbury has done a wondrous job rebuilding the Commanders once moribund offense. Washington tops in the NFL while averaging 31.1 points per game, they sit second in points per play (0.503), and third in third-down conversion percentage (48.78). Most impressively, they're averaging 5.2 yards per carry, and 8.3 yards per pass. In essence, the Commanders explosive offense is taking the league by storm. NFL fans are about to witness an unstoppable force meet an immovable object on the gridiron.
On the flip side, the Bears defense sit in the top five in yards and points per play, opponent red zone scoring percentage, and takeaways. Matt Eberflus' defense is also third in EPA per play, and second in dropback success rate. Even if Daniels takes the field, he'll find passing success tough to come by against an underrated Bears defense. Backup Marcus Mariota lit up the lowly Panthers last week, however, I believe books are overvaluing that performance. The Bears defense is a different animal, and the former number-two overall pick is just 7-12 SU in his last 19 starts.
Furthermore, Washington's defense has been leaking like a sieve all season. Their trip to Carolina helped to cleanup the stats, but the Commanders sit 25th in EPA per play and have allowed opponents to score on nearly 72% of red zone trips. Dan Quinn's defensive overhaul isn't quite ready for the big time. According to PFF, Washington ranks 26th in overall defensive grade, and sit in the bottom-10 in both pass-rush and coverage grade.
Williams and the Bears offense have steadily improved across their three-game winning streak. He's thrown for seven touchdowns and one interception across the last three weeks, as the game slows down and his cohesion with receivers grows. I like Chicago's defense to create a turnover or two, and the Bears to win their fourth straight in Week 8.
Bears vs Commanders Week 8 Props
D'Andre Swift OVER 17.5 Receiving Yards
Swift has been a fantastic outlet for rookie quarterback Caleb Williams this season. He's seen at least four targets in each of the past five games, and has exceeded 17.5 receiving yards in all of those contests. In fact, he's averaging 38.6 receiving yards per game in those five weeks, nearly double his yardage prop for this weekends' contest. Additionally, the Commanders have surrendered at least 3 receptions for an average of 22.6 yards to running backs per game.
Swift OVER 17.5 receiving yards is one of my favorite Bears vs Commanders Week 8 props.
