Panthers Have Won 14 Straight at Home
A pair of teams with Super Bowl aspirations will do battle on the gridiron in Week 3, as the Minnesota Vikings (2-0) take their talents to Carolina for a date with Cam Newton and the Panthers (1-1).
The confines of Bank of America Stadium have been anything but friendly to visiting teams lately. Carolina has been dominant at home, going 14-0 SU in their last 14 home games. Covering the spread hasn’t been an issue either, as they’ve gone 10-4 ATS during that span.
That’s not the only trend that favors the home side in this contest. Visiting teams are a measly 2-5 SU and ATS in the last seven meetings between the clubs.
Minnesota’s most recent triumph came against the archrival Green Bay Packers, a 17-14 victory in Sunday Night Football. In the debut of U.S. Bank Stadium, Minnesota’s defense stymied the high-flying Packers offense and limited all-world quarterback Aaron Rodgers to 213 yards and a 70.7 quarterback rating.
Newly acquired signal-caller Sam Bradford was impressive in his Vikings debut, throwing for 286 yards and two touchdowns. Bradford finished with a 71 percent completion percentage and a 121.2 quarterback rating.
After suffering another loss to the Denver Broncos in Week 1, the Panthers throttled the lowly San Francisco 49ers in a dominant 42-27 effort. Minnesota’s vaunted defense is a significant upgrade over San Fran’s, however, so don’t expect another 42-point output by the Panthers.
