Canucks vs Kraken Preview - January 2

Canucks vs Kraken Odds & Picks: Seattle Hand Vancouver Another L

Without Quinn Hughes in the lineup, the Vancouver Canucks are DOA against the Seattle Kraken tonight at Climate Pledge Arena. Taking the Kraken on the BET99 moneyline at -120 odds is an easy bet.

If you want to fade me you'd be interested in the Odds Shark's BET99 same-game parlay for tonight that's combined the Canucks moneyline, the total going OVER six goals, and Jake DeBrusk hitting his shot prop.

Canucks vs Kraken Picks

Kraken ML (-120) at BET99

Put the Miller-Pettersson drama aside for a second, losing Quinn Hughes is catastrophic for the Vancouver Canucks. The defenseman was the thread keeping the team together, when the defenseman isn't out on the ice the 'Nucks cave in and fold.

Hughes has been out since the Canucks season restarted following the Christmas break, and they've lost both games, including a 5-4 OT loss at home to these Kraken. With those two losses, Vancouver is now 1-5SU in its last six games and 1-4SU in its last five road games.

Back to the Miller-Pettersson drama, the latter didn't travel with the team for their game in Calgary and won't be in Seattle for this tilt either. His absence comes off the heels of GM Patrick Alvin saying Pettersson needed to mature and rumors of JT Miller being way too hard on the former 100-point player.

There's way too much noise surrounding the Canucks and too much quality missing from this Vancouver lineup for me to believe it can win. That's before you consider that Seattle has won back-to-back games and five of its last six games against the Canucks. I'm taking Seattle at -120 on the BET99 moneyline.

Canucks vs Kraken Same-Game Parlay

  • Canucks ML
  • OVER 56 Goals
  • DeBrusk O2.5 SOG
  • Odds: +650.

Canucks ML: Our Odds Shark same-game parlay starts with the Canucks moneyline, the Kraken aren't exactly strong at home with a 9-8-2 record while Vancouver has proven to be better away from home this season with a 10-4-2 record (they're 7-7-6 at home).

OVER 6 Goals: Both teams have scored a ton lately, with Vancouver scoring 13 goals in their last four games (3.25 per game) and Seattle scoring 10 goals in its last two outings. The total has also gone OVER nine times in the 10 meetings between these Pacific Division clubs with an average of 7.7 goals.

Jake DeBrusk O2.5 SOG: With Pettersson out of the lineup, DeBrusk has seen more of the puck notching seven shots in his last two games. Expect the same tonight.

Canucks vs Kraken Player Prop

Jaden Schwartz O0.5 Points (-120) at BET99

It's never too late to back a scoring streak, so I'm all in on Jaden Schwartz scoring at least one point tonight against the Canucks. OVER 0.5 points for the Kraken forward is -120 from BET99.

The 32-year-old is peeling back the years and turning into the player he was when he entered the league with St. Louis, Schwartz has five points in his last two games for Seattle with three goals and two assists. And with a disjointed and injured Vancouver side coming to Climate Pledge Arena, a side he scored a brace against five days ago, it would be silly of me to not be on him scoring at least one point.

Canucks vs Kraken Betting Trends

  • The total has gone OVER in 10 of Seattle's last 11 against Vancouver, OVER 5.5 goals is -115 at BET99.
  • Vancouver is 1-5SU in its last six games against Seattle, the Kraken are -120 favorites on the BET99 moneyline.
  • Per Outlier, JT Miller has gone OVER 0.5 points in four of his last five games, OVER 0.5 points for Miller is -200 at BET99.
