Copa América 2024 Expert Picks Today: Peru vs. Canada, Chile vs. Argentina

A rousing Copa América 2024 tournament continues on Tuesday night. Jesse Marsch's Canada take on Peru looking for their first points before defending Copa champions Argentina return to the pitch in Group A action as Lionel Messi and company battle Alexis Sanchez' Chile.

Let's dive into all the odds for tonight's matches and our Copa América expert picks.

Peru vs Canada Copa América Odds

TeamMoneylineDrawTotalSpread
Peru+272+221Over 2.25 Goals (+112)+0.25 (+102)
Canada+124+221Under 2.25 Goals (-123)-0.25 (-110)

Odds as of June 25

Nick Holz's Pick: Canada Moneyline +124

I'm on the Reds at +124 odds tonight.

Canada looked confident and organized against Argentina on Matchday 1. They very well could have potted a goal or two of their own against the World and Copa champions.

Peru on the other hand struggled through a knife fight with Chile in which they registered just 35% possession and 0.75 expected goals.

I like Canada to control this match from the outset and pull off their first Copa victory.

Michel Anderson's Pick: Canada Moneyline +124

Canada is rightfully favored. Sure they lost 2-0 to Argentina on Matchday 1, but the Canadians showed a lot of class. With 10 total shots, Canada held a 1.16 xG against the defending World Cup and Copa Champions.

The Canadians should take all three points against a Peruvian side that hasn't beaten anyone of consequence this year (sorry Nicaragua, Dominican Republic and El Salvador).

Andrew Avery's Pick: Canada Moneyline +124

The Canadians did what they could to go toe-to-toe with the World Champs on Matchday 1 and for the most part, held their own. Peru poses a much lighter test and it’s a game that Canada needs to win. If Canada can harness the energy it showed against Argentina, it should get to the final whistle with three points secured.

Chile vs Argentina Copa América Odds

TeamMoneylineDrawTotalSpread
Chile+700+324Over 2.25 Goals (+101)+1 (+108)
Argentina-204+324Under 2.25 Goals (-112)-1 (-117)

Odds as of June 25

Michel Anderson's Pick: Both Teams to Score (yes) +130

Sure, we saw Argentina shut out Canada but anyone watching will know it wasn't a convincing clean sheet. Both Argentina and Chile have scored in four of their last five meetings. We know Argentina can score, but can Chile? The answer is yes.

They've averaged two goals per game this year against quality opponents like France, Paraguay and Albania. Add the 11 goals they scored in four games in 2023, and Chile is netting 2.375 goals per game. We just need them to get one.

Andrew Avery's Pick: Over 2.25 Goals +108

We saw flashes of a vintage Gareca side in Chile’s opener against Peru, it just couldn’t put the finishing touches on some good possession. Argentina grew into the game against Canada and was clinical on the final goal. I think there are goals here ESPECIALLY if Argentina gives the starting nod to Lautaro Martinez, so keep an eye on lineups.

Nick Holz's Pick: Lionel Messi to Score +121

Messi missed two glorious chances against Canada. On any other day, he's leading the Copa América Golden Boot race with two already. We've seen a number of spectacular moments from the little maestro throughout his career, and when his team needs him most he responds.

Even at 37 years old, Messi remains one of the most dangerous players on the pitch. He's scored five times against Chile in his career. I think we see a vintage Messi performance, and at least one goal tonight.
