March Madness has finally arrived. Before "One Shining Moment" zings through your tv speakers, it's time to get in on the CBB player prop action. Here are our expert CBB player props of the day for the first round of the NCAAB tournament.
Ring Malith U 7.5 Points -135 at Sportsbook
Eight points doesn’t seem like much, especially when Malith has cashed this line is 17 of his last 18 outings. And of course he has—the Ohio Valley Conference isn’t exactly the toughest to compete in. Even his performance in the OVC Tournament was bleak, earning eight points in the semifinal and 12 in the finals against Southeast Missouri State.
If the 28.5-point spread wasn’t indication enough, Houston should obliterate its first-round opponents. The Houston Cougars are the top rated defense at KenPom and best scoring defense (58.5 PPG) in the nation. I don’t really think SIU-Edwardsville is going to accomplish some scoring rampage here.
Johni Broome 8+ Rebounds -290 at Sportsbook
If the SEC Tournament was any sneak peek as to what’s in store for Johni Broome’s March Madness performance, we’re all in for a treat. The senior went on a tear, posting 46 points and 22 rebounds across the quarterfinal and semifinal matchups. Alabama State allows 39.6 total rebounds, the 10th-most in college basketball. Auburn has something to prove after falling in the SEC semifinals and losing back-to-back games to close out the regular season. Expect a hungry Broome on the court.
BYU's Dallin Hall OVER 2.5 Assists (-195 at Sportsbook)
Dallin Hall is BYU's distributor. He averages 4.2 assists per game on the season and has gone OVER 2.5 dimes in 19-straight games. In his last 10 games, alone, Hall is averaging 4.7 assists per game, so an O2.5 is easy.
I get why this line is so low, as VCU allows the fifth-fewest assists per game in the country. But, VCU still allowed five opponent players to go OVER 2.5 assists in three A10 tournament games. Hall can be the sixth.
Kadary Richmond UNDER 24.5 Points + Rebounds -120 at Underdog Fantasy
St. John's guard Kadary Richmond has been a huge part of the Red Storm's ascension this season. However, Richmond has failed to surpass 24.5 points + rebounds in seven straight games.
Rick Pitino's squad will put the pedal to the metal against Omaha, but in a cupcake matchup, I don't expect the veteran coach to leave his starters in the game for long. Richmond is such a crucial piece of everything the Red Storm do on the court that Pitino will want to rest him for future contests. Fade Kadary Richmond against the Nebraska Omaha.
