2024 Philadephia Eagles Season Betting Preview & Odds

2024 Philadelphia Eagles Season Preview & Odds: Can Hurts & Sirianni Spark Another Super Bowl Run?

Can Jalen Hurts lead the Philadelphia Eagles back to the Super Bowl? That question is on the minds of many in the City of Brotherly Love as the NFL season approaches. Odds Shark's 2024 Philadelphia Eagles season betting preview dives deep into the team's potential and whether or not Hurts and the Eagles can overcome last season's challenges.

Let's explore all the Eagles odds, key matchups, and what to expect from Nick Sirianni's squad during the 2024 NFL season.

Odds as of August 20

Eagles fans will be pleased to see their team fifth on the Super Bowl odds board, and second to win the NFC Championship.

Much has been made of the deteriorating relationship between Hurts and Sirianni. The Eagles brass are hoping the presence of veteran coordinators Kellen Moore and Vic Fangio will aid in righting the ship.

Make no mistake, even without the skills of Jason Kelce, the Eagles have one of the most talented and experienced rosters in the NFL. Early round draft picks Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean shore up the back end of the defense, while Devin White and Bryce Huff make Philadelphia's front seven downright scary. I expect Fangio to turn the Eagles defense into a frightening unit sooner than later, making them my favorite play to win the NFC at +550.

The additions of Saquon Barkley, Parris Campbell, and Mekhi Becton inject both star power and depth to Philly's offense. Hurts simply needs to play point guard and protect the football and his outstanding array of playmakers will do the rest.

There's very little to takeaway from the Eagles 2023 results ATS or total. However, the Eagles were 7-1 to the OVER at home last season, as their defense couldn't stop a nose bleed down the stretch.

As we've covered, Philadelphia's defense projects to be much better this season. They've won at least 11 games in back-to-back years and figure to benefit from playing a second place schedule after Dallas piped them for the NFC East title in 2023.

Early season matchups with the Packers, Falcons, Saints and Buccaneers will set the tone of Philly's campaign. Luckily, they finish with winnable contests against the Panthers, Commanders and Giants down the stretch, making their OVER 10.5 wins the play even at -148 odds.

Odds as of August 20

The Eagles have made the playoffs in seven of the last eight seasons and are undoubtedly one of the most talented teams in the NFC. Their heavily juiced -300 odds reflect the fact the Philadelphia is very likely to be one of the seven teams representing the conference in the postseason.

That being said, I would pass on betting the Eagles to make the 2024 playoffs at these odds. There's little value to be had in this market.

If Jalen Hurts odds to win NFL MVP this season were slightly longer, they'd be appealing. But at their current state of +1400, I can't place the bet. Should the Eagles stumble early in the season I could be convinced to flip my stance and place a value wager at longer odds. That being said, Philadelphia's whole team ran out of steam down the stretch last year, and I need to see Kellen Moore's offense in full swing before becoming a believer.

Saquon and A.J. Brown are longshots to win the award for a reason. I wouldn't waste your money on either one at this point. As the presence of DeVonta Smith, and Hurts in the backfield is likely to take away from wild statistics they would have to register to win MVP. However, I do like their odds to win NFL Offensive Player of the Year.
