The Las Vegas Raiders opened up as a -1 point favorite at FanDuel over the Jacksonville Jaguars in a Week 16 contest. The Over/Under total opened at 39.5. Wise guy money showed up on Jacksonville which is why we had a switch of favorites with the Jaguars -1.5 early in the week. However, there was a Vegas buyback and the Raiders are now -1.5. The total has held steady at 39.5.
We do have some history for this matchup but you have to scroll back to the 2022 season. Jacksonville (-2.5) hosted the visitors from Vegas and posted a 27-20 win. The Over/Under was listed at 48.0 and went low by just a stick.
Looking ahead, the Jaguars fly back home to host the Tennessee Titans, while the Raiders limp down to New Orleans for a date with the Saints.

A few words on how this line has bounced around, and why the wise guys think it's gonna be a tight game. Vegas opened up -1.5 or -1 depending on where you shop. Then the smart money came in on Jacksonville, pushing the Jaguars to -1.5. More smart money on Wednesday pushed the Raiders back to -1.5. So, basically, if the game ends by one point in either direction, the wise guys win BOTH ends. When the sharps are hitting books all over the world with six figure bets on each game, winning both sides, hitting the middle, becomes a YUGE deposit.
On to the game and we could tell you that tickets for the Raiders games in Vegas were among the most expensive in the NFL. Key word in that sentence is WERE!
Now that the Raiders have lost TEN in a row, you can get in with a donation of six cans of baked beans and three boxes of spaghetti. Not only have the Silver & Black lost 10 straight, but they are sadly deficient when it comes to putting points on the board. They have scored 19, 19, 17, 13, and 9 since the bye week.
According to the trusty calculator, that's ONLY 15 points per game, and that's EMBARRASSING! When a THIRD STRING QB, Desmond Ridder, is your leading rusher with 28 yards, there are ISSUES!
Jacksonville has not been much better, putting an ugly 3-11 record on the board, but the Jaguars did show some signs of life last week against the Jets, before losing 32-25. Mac Jones came back from the dead, hitting 31 of 46 for 294 yards with two TDs and two INTs.
Actually, Mac the Knife has been pretty sharp the last two weeks, completing over 70% of his passes. One of the reasons is first round draft pick Brian Thomas Jr. from LSU who is on a heater, grabbing 18 balls for 191 yards the last two weeks. And the Jags also have a running game led by Travis Etienne. It's not Saquon Barkley running the rock, but Etienne did gobble up 65 yards last week, and with Vegas star DE Maxx Crosby out, we're thinking that Travis might go over 100.
And once again, lemme just say that there are a handful of spots on the betting board that look way more appetizing. Unless you live with the wise guys or sharps, and have a shot at winning both sides, we would advise a skinny wager. Leaning toward Jax since they have covered six of the last nine as an underdog, but will not open my wallet too wide.
