Josh Allen's Bills are favored in the Jets vs Bills Odds

Jets vs Bills Odds & Picks Week 17: Will Bills Be Playing For No. 1 Seed?

The Buffalo Bills opened up as a 9.5-point favorite at FanDuel over the New York Jets in a Week 17 contest. The Over/Under total was set at 46.5. The line and the Over/Under have both held tight, no movement early in the week.

We do have some recent history for this matchup from this season. Buffalo (-1) flew down to New York and squeezed out a 23-20 victory. The total was listed at 42.0 and it went over by a stick.

Looking ahead, the Jets come back home to close the season with another AFC East matchup in New York against the Dolphins, while the Bills pack their bags for a trip to New England to close with the Patriots.

After the Jets opened the season at 2-1, we had high hopes for Aaron Rodgers. Then starting with a one point loss (10-9) at home against the Broncos, the New Yorkers have fallen and can't seem to get up.

They lost a head coach, Robert Saleh, and 10 of the last 12 games. The team and the ownership is in a word, dysfunctional! The have not smelled the playoffs since 2010, and it could be another few years to see any postseason action.

As far as FORTY ONE year old Aaron goes, it was not a terrible season, but not great. He completed 333 of 530 (62.8%) for 3,511 yards with 24 TDs and eight INTs. Just not good enough. Looks like he is going through the motions, no real fire like the old days. Probably waiting for one of the networks to offer him a Tom Brady-ish multi-year multi-million dollar broadcasting deal.

The other arm, Josh Allen, has been sensational and should walk away with the MVP. But if you looked at his numbers, and compare 'em to Rodgers, they are surprisingly similar. Allen has hit on 291 of 456 (62.8%) for 3,549 yards with 26 TDs and six INTs. Both have completed the same exact percentage of passes, they are within 38 yards of each other and Allen has two more TDs and two less INTs. The GINORMOUS difference is the rushing total. Josh has gobbled up 514 yards on the ground while Aaron has only scrambled for 107.

So, the question here is, how much does Buffalo want this game and what will it do for them in the playoff picture? The Bills are sitting at 12-3, two games behind the Chiefs for the No. 1 seed. The Buffs finish with two CUPCAKES, the Jets and then the Patriots. So pencil 'em in at 14-3. We'll know more on Christmas Day when the Chiefs 14-1, play the Steelers at Pittsburgh. A win and Kaycee is No. 1 throughout. A loss and it's still up in the air. If Buffalo and Kansas City both finish at 14-3, then the Bills would grab the No. 1 seed for the playoffs because they beat Kaycee back in November.

However, the most likely scenario is Buffalo clinching the No. 2 seed and playing a first round game at home. The Buffs didn't really burn the candle in the game against the Patriots last week, winning by only three. Gotta wait on the outcome of the Christmas Day games, which will determine the size and direction of this wager. PATIENCE!
