Lions vs Packers Week 9 Picks
Under 48.5
The under is the easy play here with Jordan Love's status for Sunday up in the air. Love strained his groin last week in Green Bay's win over Jacksonville.
Regardless, expect the Packers to run the football over and over again in this one. Matt Lafleur understands he'll have to take the air out of the ball and rack up time of possession to limit Detroit's opportunities.
The Lions are a well-oiled machine, racking up 24 offensive touchdowns with quarterback Jared Goff throwing just 19 incompletions over the past four weeks. Goff is on an absolute heater, but that production has come from the friendly confines of domes. He's a much different player outdoors. In fact, Goff has thrown 38% more interceptions per game with a 10% lower passer rating, and 18% less touchdowns per attempt when outdoors during his career. Last season, his adjusted yards per attempt was 30% lower in outdoor contests.
Sunday marks Detroit's first outdoor game of the season. Recall that Goff threw for just 161 yards and the Lions put up 13 points against Chicago in their first outdoor contest last year. He's also averaged just 217 passing yards, and less than one touchdown per game in his last two starts in Green Bay.
Temperatures are expected to dip under 60 on Sunday, with rain in the forecast. With both these offenses rolling, I feel like the under 48.5 is an excellent contrarian play for the Lions vs Packers Week 9 matchup.

Dontayvion Wicks 40+ Receiving Yards +350
Aaron Glenn's Lions defense plays the most man coverage of any team in the NFL, lining up mano a mano on 42.3% of snaps. However, Detroit allows the sixth-most passing yards in the NFL at 247 per game.
Dontayvion Wicks shines against man coverage, leading the team with a 40.6% target share. Look for the sophomore to shine against the Lions.
