Rams vs Cardinals Odds & Picks Week 2: Opportunistic Cardinals

The Los Angeles Rams are 1-point underdogs on the road against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 1 NFL action Sunday. The Cardinals find themselves laying a point thanks to an impressive Week 1 effort, albeit in a loss, and a bunch of Rams injuries. Oddsmakers are expecting it to be raining points in this one as they’ve set a 49 point total.

Rams vs. Cardinals Picks Week 2

Cardinals -1 (-110)

Arizona opened as a +1 underdog and this point spread moved through zero as the Cardinals are now the short favorite. Arizona looked like the better team last week in Buffalo and while the Cardinals defense leaves a lot to be desired, their offense can keep pace with anyone in the league.

The Rams enter this game as a mash unit with star WR Puka Nacua on IR and several offensive linemen expected to miss the game or not be 100%. For instance, starting tackle Alaric Jackson is suspended and backup Joe Noteboom will be out “a few weeks.” Starting center Steve Avila is out 4-6 weeks with a sprained MCL, while starting guard Kevin Dotson and starting tackle Rob Havenstein are both day-to-day with an ankle sprain.

While it’s true that the Rams backups played admirably in their loss vs. the Lions, at some point the injuries will keep up with them and I’m betting that point is on the road vs. a division rival this week.

Both Lions running backs had success vs. the Rams last week, but especially David Montgomery whose 5-foot-11, 224 pound frame seemed to wear down the Rams defense as the game went on. Cardinals running back James Conner, who has a bruising running style, has to be salivating at facing this defense after what he saw last week.
