Despite having just competed in the Finals, albeit in a losing effort to the newly-crowned champion Boston Celtics, the Mavericks currently find themselves with the sixth-best odds to win the 2025 title while being tied with the second-strongest odds to emerge from the West.

Working against them is the fact that no team from the conference has competed in consecutive Finals since the Golden State Warriors went to five straight from 2015 through 2019.

Best Bet: Dallas Mavericks To Win Southwest Division, +105

The West truly is a crapshoot, and even after acquiring veteran sharpshooter and five-time All-Star Klay Thompson, the likes of the Oklahoma City Thunder, Denver Nuggets, and up-and-coming Minnesota Timberwolves aren't going away quietly. The potential profits are greater if Dallas does in fact return to the Finals, but if you're looking for more of a sure thing, wagering on the Mavericks to at least take their division is the path to success.

A return to form from the Memphis Grizzlies after being ravaged by injuries this past season is arguably the biggest threat to Dallas not retaining its division title, and the New Orleans Pelicans only finished a single game behind the Mavericks in the win-loss column, but they did lose a number of players this summer.

Barring any substantial injuries, Dallas still possesses the best roster of the three which only improved with the addition of Thompson. Dereck Lively II is projected to take a noticeable leap forward in his development after being an important part of the team's postseason run, both PJ Washington and Daniel Gafford remain vital pieces of the core rotation, and adding Spencer Dinwiddie, Naji Marshall, and Quentin Grimes dramatically bolsters what was already a deep depth chart.

The Mavericks finished with a 50-32 record in 2023-24, marking the second time in three years that the franchise managed to win at least 50 games. It was a 12-win improvement over the prior season, as well, and to hit the OVER on the total oddsmakers have currently set forth, all Dallas will need to do is win just one more game, which seems more than doable.

Best Bet: OVER 50.5 Wins, -110

Only four teams had a better record than the 18-9 Mavericks following the All-Star break, and that included a stretch in which Dallas went 16-2 from March 7 through April 10. That momentum then carried forth to the playoffs, so it was more than just a flash in the pan. It's what the Mavericks are capable of when everything clicks, and they've only gotten more formidable.

Dallas went 2-2 in West Group B during the inaugural in-season tournament for the NBA Cup and failed to qualify for the knockout stage. They'll have to contend with the Nuggets, Pelicans, Warriors, and Grizzlies this year in West Group C, which will undoubtedly be the hardest group to get out of.

Best Bet: Luka Doncic For NBA Most Valuable Player, +350

Doncic's third-place finish in Most Valuable Player voting last season was the highest of his career, and a case could be made that he was the most deserving of the hardware despite garnering fewer votes than Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and eventual three-time recipient Nikola Jokic.

The 25-year-old led the Association in points per game (33.9), ranked second in assists (9.8), second in made 3-pointers per game (4.1), and eighth in steals (1.4). He became the first player in history to average at least 32 points, nine rebounds (9.2), and nine assists per game for a season, as well.

An MVP win for Doncic is only a matter of time, and it could come as early as next year. His numbers only continue to skyrocket, and he'll become increasingly more difficult to ignore for these end-of-season awards.
