Following a season in which everything that could have gone wrong absolutely did, the Memphis Grizzlies seek to reestablish themselves as a contender with hopefully a clean(er) bill of health after playing a league record 33 different players out of sheer necessity.
Here's a look at all of the Grizzlies' betting odds in this 2024-25 NBA season preview as oddsmakers project a return to prominence.

Team | NBA Title Odds | Western Conference Odds | Southwest Division Odds |
---|---|---|---|
Memphis Grizzlies | +3400 | +1500 | +240 |
Odds as of October 18, 2024 at FanDuel
After two-straight seasons finishing with the second-best record in the Western Conference, the Grizzlies fell off the face of the earth and plummeted all the way down to 13th utilizing 51 unique starting lineups due to an insane 592 games lost because of player injury.
Memphis was also without superstar guard Ja Morant for the first 25 games as he served a suspension, with a 6-19 start putting the team in the hole out of the gate. It culminated in the team's worst winning percentage (.329) since 2018 when the Grizzlies went 22-60 (.268).
Best Bet: Memphis Grizzlies To Win Southwest Division, +240
When healthy, as evident by the prior two campaigns, Memphis is unquestionably capable of causing havoc atop the West, so bettors should take last season's putrid record as more of an anomaly than anything.
The three-headed monster of Morant, sharpshooter Desmond Bane, and 2023 Defensive Player of the Year Jaren Jackson Jr. are still around, rookie Zach Edey will be tasked with replacing new Houston Rockets center Steven Adams, Marcus Smart is a former Defensive Player of the Year in his own right, and the likes of GG Jackson, Santi Aldama, and Vince Williams Jr. all showed promise with increased roles as the core of the roster sat out.
While taking the West isn't unrealistic, a third Southwest Division crown in four years is the more feasible goal. The Dallas Mavericks and New Orleans Pelicans are the biggest competition in that regard, but the Grizzlies have the depth (again, when healthy) and top-tier talent to surpass them both, and that's mighty praise considering Dallas just represented the conference in the Finals.
Memphis Grizzlies' 2024-25 NBA Win Total, Make Playoffs Odds
Team | 2024-25 Win Total | OVER | UNDER | Odds To Make Playoffs |
---|---|---|---|---|
Memphis Grizzlies | 46.5 | -112 | -108 | -220 |
Odds as of October 18, 2024 at FanDuel
Oddsmakers setting Memphis' win total at 46.5, which is a 20-win increase over what it just finished with, once again validates how last season should be left in the dust, buried, and never thought of again. It wasn't indicative of anything, and the Grizzlies' luck can't possibly get any worse, so a 46.5-win prop is at least reasonable.
Best Bet: UNDER 46.5 Wins, -108
With that being said, though, the Grizzlies winning 46 games or fewer is the more feasible scenario. If the team went on to win exactly 48, that would equate to a .585 winning percentage, and a leap from .329 in 2023-24 would have beaten out the Rockets (.268 to .500) for the largest single-season jump.
It's a tall task since the West had 10 teams record at least 46 victories, so swiping away at some of those marks will come with some headaches.
Memphis Grizzlies' 2024 NBA Cup Odds
Team | NBA Cup Odds | West Group C Odds |
---|---|---|
Memphis Grizzlies | +2200 | +320 |
Odds as of October 18, 2024 at FanDuel
The Grizzlies put up a goose egg at 0-4 in West Group A during the inaugural in-season tournament. While their odds aren't horrible in this year's West Group C, Memphis still has only the third-best chance to win it according to oddsmakers in what's unquestionably the hardest group of all alongside the Mavericks, Pelicans, Denver Nuggets, and Golden State Warriors.

Taylor Jenkins (coach) | +1100 |
Odds as of October 18, 2024 at FanDuel
Best Bet: Taylor Jenkins For NBA Coach Of The Year, +1100
Hate it or love, the underdog's on top, and voters love nothing more than a feel-good redemption arc. Three of the last four Coach of the Year winners saw single-season improvements of at least .200, and that's what's on the table here for Taylor Jenkins and his team.
Jenkins would join Hubie Brown (2003-04) as the only Grizzlies coaches to take the hardware, with Jenkins recently finishing second in the votes back in 2022 when Memphis went 56-26.
No team is projected to make a grander year-over-year improvement than the Grizzlies, and while it may just be circumstantial with his key pieces not being sidelined (knock on wood), Jenkins will reap the benefits if everything checks out and be acknowledged for his work.
