The New York Knicks scratched and clawed their way to within one game of the franchise's first Eastern Conference finals appearance since 2000 despite an abundance of injuries, and as we'll discuss in the team's 2024-25 NBA season preview, oddsmakers don't believe they're simply a one-hit wonder.
Here's a look at all of the important betting odds and futures pertaining to the Knicks for their upcoming campaign.

The reigning champion Boston Celtics are rightfully the odds-on favorites to get out of the East and compete in their third Finals in four years, but the race to see who's the second-best team in the conference is a tight one between New York, the Philadelphia 76ers, and Milwaukee Bucks.
The Knicks advanced to the 1999 Finals in a losing effort, although that season was drastically shortened because of a lockout. The last time New York participated in a Finals following a full 82-game slate was in 1994, with the last title win coming in 1973.
Best Bet: New York Knicks To Win Eastern Conference, +470
Acquiring Mikal Bridges from the Brooklyn Nets completed the "Nova Knicks" foursome along with fellow Wildcats alumnus Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, and Donte DiVincenzo. There likely isn't a tighter, more cohesive four-man unit across the entire Association, and their history together and resulting friendship should pay dividends on the hardwood with Bridges a seamless fit in the team's frontcourt.
The gap between Boston and the rest of the field was a staggering 14 games during the regular season, but had New York been playing with a full deck of cards, many believe they could have given the Celtics a run for their money across a full seven-game series. The addition of Bridges provides the Knicks another wing who can defend the likes of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, and O.G. Anunoby would have garnered his fair share of Defensive Player of the Year votes had he met the guidelines for eligibility.
The future of Julius Randle remains in limbo as an expiring contract, and losing Isaiah Hartenstein to the Oklahoma City Thunder is one less interior presence head coach Tom Thibodeau has to trot out. Regardless, there's enough as constructed to envision New York moving deeper into the postseason and vying for a championship. It shouldn't surprise anyone if it did.
New York Knicks' 2024-25 NBA Win Total, Make Playoffs Odds

---|---|---|---|---|
New York Knicks | 53.5 | -110 | -110 | -6000 |
Odds as of August 14
The Knicks flipped their 37-45 record in 2021-22 into a 45-37 record in 2022-23, only to then build off of that with three more victories this past season. It marked the first time since 2013 that New York won 50 or more games and just the second time since 2001.
Best Bet: UNDER 53.5 Wins, -110
Projecting the Knicks to finish with 54 wins is asking a lot, even if the team is more than capable of making that happen. It would be the most victories by the franchise since 1997, and the East is only getting deeper and tougher to predict. No one would scoff at New York finishing with between 51 and 53 victories, but in the case of this prop, that still wouldn't be enough to connect on the OVER.
New York Knicks' 2024 NBA Cup Odds
Team | NBA Cup Odds | East Group A Odds |
---|---|---|
New York Knicks | +1000 | +270 |
Odds as of August 14
The Knicks advanced to the knockout stage of the inaugural in-season tournament by virtue of having the strongest point differential of all teams to finish in second place in the East groups. Their bid to win the first-ever NBA Cup was cut short in a blowout loss to the Bucks in the quarterfinals, though. In order to get out of East group A this year, they'll need to fight it out with Philadelphia and the Orlando Magic, while the Nets and Charlotte Hornets serve as massive underdogs.

Best Bet: Jalen Brunson For NBA Most Valuable Player, +1600
While not receiving any first-place votes, Brunson still managed to finish fifth in NBA Most Valuable Player voting last season, which was a gargantuan leap from being tied for 12th the season prior. He justified such praise by averaging 32.4 points in the playoffs for New York, while also becoming the fourth player in history and the first since Michael Jordan in the 1993 Finals to string together four-straight games of 40 or more points in the postseason.
Not that he wasn't considered a bonafide star beforehand, but Brunson's playoff outbursts put him on the map and silenced critics who may have believed he wasn't capable of being the No. 1 option on a legitimate title contender as an undersized point guard.
The likes of Luka Doncic, Nikola Jokic, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will be favored for the hardware, but Brunson should be right there alongside them keeping his name alive for the Michael Jordan trophy. He's already a made man in the Bronx, but an MVP win would cement Brunson as a New York icon.
