As we wait for the Sweet 16 to get underway, there are still plenty of college basketball games outside the tournament to bet on. Today, my CBB player props focus on Yaxel Lendeborg and Jayden Dawson.
Looming at 6-foot-9, Lendeborg leads his Blazers in just about everything--points (17.9), rebounds (11.2), blocks (1.8), steals (1.8) and assists (4.2). UAB, averaging 0.53 assists per FGM, have edged consecutive wins of four-points or fewer. On Sunday in Santa Clara, the senior collected seven assists, making him cash the OVER on 3.5 assists in four of his last five campaigns. Meanwhile, UC Irvine allows 13.5 assists per game.
The Golden Flashes are efficient at forcing turnovers and limiting opponents' scoring chances, giving up 68.3 PPG (ranked 58th). Going 10-5 SU, Kent State has been reliable on the road too and can apply that defensive pressure in just about any environment. That's bad news for Dawson, who has failed to reach 19.5 points and rebounds in four of his last five. Not a consistent option for us bettors, even if he is coming off a 35-point night.
The truth is, Loyola Chicago multiple scoring options in Des Watson and Sheldon Edwards Jr., meaning he might not get enough action to hit this line. Kent State’s defensive pressure and Loyola Chicago’s balanced scoring attack all points to an UNDER bet tonight.
