Arizona overcame San Francisco as 7.5-point underdogs last week, with Kyler Murray's dual-threat skills and an opportunistic defense leading the way. Jonathan Gannon's defense kept the 49ers off the scoreboard in the second half, which spurred the 24-23 comeback victory.
However, for the 2024 season, the Cardinals' defense ranks 26th in EPA per play allowed. They also allow an NFL-worst 57.6% success rate on passing attempts. In essence, Arizona's defense has struggled.
Meanwhile, Jordan Love has been hot and cold since returning to the gridiron after his early season injury. He threw an awful pick-six against the Rams last week. Having said that, Love rallied after that throw, completing 12-of-13 passes and leading the Packers to a 24-19 victory.
With Matt Lafleur's creative offensive scheme continuing to flummox opponents', Green Bay should have no trouble passing all over the vulnerable Cardinals' defense. Especially with receiver Romeo Doubs back in the fold after his suspension. However, the Cardinals offense is too good for me to back the Packers on the spread here, even though they're 5-2 ATS in their last seven games at home.
Instead, I'll roll with the OVER 49.5 points. Green Bay's defense has been a middle-of-the-pack unit (pun intended) this season, allowing 5.4 yards per play.
