NFL Playoff Odds Best Bets

Pittsburgh Steelers to Make Playoffs +198

Death, taxes and the Pittsburgh Steelers winning at least eight games in a season. That used to be enough to go .500 in an NFL season, but now the Steelers will be forced to win nine games and make the playoffs to continue head coach Mike Tomlin's impressive streak. Pittsburgh finished 10-8 ATS with 11 of their 18 contests coming in UNDER the total in 2023. They were particularly good away from home finishing 5-3 SU and ATS in the regular season. Tomlin has never presided over a team with a losing record in his 16 seasons as the head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers. That is unlikely to change in 2024.

Don't underestimate the veteran presence of a Russell Wilson under center. Sure, Russ comes with his warts. However, he is a Super Bowl-winning signal-caller, who understands the nuances of the position and knows how to put his teammates in the best position to win. Denver was a recipe for disaster for the Wisconsin product, as his offensive line was brutal and Wilson's playing style never fit either of Nathaniel Hackett's or Sean Payton's offenses.

Ciara's husband will be a much better fit for Arthur Smith's new offense, with top tackle prospects Troy Fautanu and Broderick Jones protecting him. I love the value on Pittsburgh at +198 odds to make the NFL playoffs.

Atlanta Falcons to Miss Playoffs +164

The Falcons were pitiful for bettors last season, going just 5-12 ATS and 2-7 ATS away from home. Intriguingly 10 of the Falcons' 17 contests came in UNDER the total. But, the presence of a new quarterback (Kirk Cousins) and head coach (Raheem Morris) has Falcons fans and pundits alike believing 2024 is the year they turn things around. But, I'm not ready to hop on the hype train.

Atlanta's star trio of Bijan Robinson, Drake London and Kyle Pitts likely can't wait to take the field in this new offense. And their offensive line played well last season. However, the Falcons defense leaves a lot to be desired.

Atlanta still hasn't found a proven pass-rusher on defense. Stalwart Grady Jarrett is perpetually injured and registered just 1.5 sacks last season. Plus, other than A.J. Terrell and Jessie Bates, much of the Falcons secondary is unproven.

Add in an early season murderer's row of Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and Kansas City, and things may not be as bright as they appear in the ATL. I'll take the +164 odds for the Falcons to miss the playoffs.

Chicago Bears To Miss Playoffs -118

The entire football world has spent the off-season singing the Chicago Bears praises. General Manager Ryan Poles has done a phenomenal job at putting together the Bears' most talented team in decades.

Caleb Williams made a number of highlight-reel plays in the preseason, leading to prognosticators anointing the Bears as this season's 2023 Houston Texans. But, Chicago's offensive line still has question marks, especially on the interior. Plus, Williams will need time to adjust to a pro-style offense after plying his trade in Lincoln Riley's wide-open system.

Additionally, the Bears' defensive line still has major question marks, even after the addition of Montez Sweat. On top of that, Chicago plays one of the toughest divisions in football, the NFC North, with other playoff contenders in Green Bay and Detroit. They also battle the ever-dangerous NFC West. Everybody is on the Bears to be this year's breakout team. I like the idea of fading them against the public as their season will be far more of a roller coaster than most are predicting. Fade the Bears.

Kansas City Chiefs Favorites to go undefeated

The back-to-back Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs are the favorites to go undefeated at +7500 odds. If you believe in the otherworldly talent of Patrick Mahomes and the creativity of Andy Reid a speculative wager is worth a shot.

On the NFC side, the Philadelphia Eagles nearly gutted out an undefeated season in 2022, going 14-3 before taking on the Chiefs in the Super Bowl. A talented roster led by Jalen Hurts and pass-catchers A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith added former NFL All-Pro Saquon Barkley to the backfield. The Eagles look set for another monster season. At +11000 odds, there are far worse bets on the NFL futures board.

How to Bet on NFL Playoff Odds

Betting on NFL playoff odds can be extremely profitable, provided you stay up to date on all the latest transactions, injuries, and coaching changes in the football world. These odds will fluctuate throughout the season, based on streaks and player personnel losses. The ideal strategy is to hunt value in the preseason NFL Playoff odds, and then snipe on favorable lines in the first few weeks of the season. Perhaps, like last year when the Cincinnati Bengals suffered a terrible start to the season, a playoff contender stumbles early. You can either bet on them to make a triumphant recovery or profit on their demise.

Sportsbooks will have NFL Playoff Odds listed like so:

  • Kansas City Chiefs -500
  • Philadelphia Eagles -290
  • Indianapolis Colts +138

Teams will be found at both (-) and (+) odds to make the playoffs. These designate your payout for each specific bet. For instance, if you were to bet on the Kansas City Chiefs you'd have to wager $500 to win $100. On the flip side, a $100 wager on the Indianapolis Colts would pay out $238.
