Packers vs Eagles Wild Card Weekend Odds & Picks: Packers Primed for a Fast Start

The Green Bay Packers enter the NFL playoffs as 4.5-point underdogs in a premier matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles on Wild Card weekend. Packers vs Eagles is yet another rematch, as these teams squared off in a 34-29 Philadelphia win in Sao Paul on September 6. Green Bay fell to Chicago as 10-point favorites on a last second field-goal in Week 18, while the Eagles defeated the Giants 20-13 despite resting most of their starters.

Packers vs Eagles Wild Card Picks

Packers First-Quarter Winner +104

The largest factor on both this betting line, and this game will be the injury status of Jalen Hurts. The former Oklahoma star is yet to clear concussion protocol following his injury in Week 16 against the Commanders. He has yet to practice, so be sure to check out the Eagles injury report on Wednesday for more updates.

Regardless of who starts at quarterback, Philadelphia will need the very best of freshly minted 2,000-yard rushing club member Saquon Barkley. Barkley made his mark with three touchdowns in his first game as an Eagle in Sao Paulo. He'll aim to emulate that performance on Sunday, and should be well rested after sitting out in Week 18.

Green Bay lost quarterback Jordan Love to an elbow injury against the Bears, and while Matt Lafleur seemed confident he could have returned to the game if necessary, his status will be something to monitor as the week progresses.

Ultimately, the Packers vs Eagles Wild Card game is a colossal showdown between two of the top teams in the NFL. Both of these offenses rank in the top-eight in offensive efficiency over the final eight weeks of the season. Plus, the Eagles lead the league in defensive EPA per play in the same time frame, with the Packers in fourth for this heavyweight matchup. Vic Fangio's stop unit led the league in yards per play (5.2) and finished second in opponent points per game (17.8). On the flip side, Jeff Hafley's first year as a defensive coordinator was a resounding success, as the Packers finished fifth in yards per play and sixth in points per game allowed.

Despite their slow starts of late, the Packers average nearly twice the amount of first-quarter points as the Eagles. After all, Philadelphia failed to score a first quarter touchdown until Week 9. Green Bay's team is young and hungry, while the Eagles will have a bit of rust of sitting out for a week. On top of that, Matt Lafleur usually has an early shot play or two dialed up for playoff meetings. Expect to see the Packers come out with their guns blazing at the Linc on Sunday.

Packers vs Eagles Wild Card Props

Josh Jacobs Anytime Touchdown -105

Josh Jacobs has scored a touchdown in eight straight games and will look to extend his streak in the playoffs. Lafleur will be feeding his bell-cow the football as the Packers look to score in the redzone. Jacob has been a constant part of the Packers attack inside the 20, ranking third in the NFL with 61 redzone touches.
