Russell Wilson Next Team Odds: Mr. Unlimited To Minnesota?

If Russell Wilson next team odds are any indication, Mr. Unlimited is on the move.

After a disastrous two years with the Denver Broncos, the Broncos have announced they will be releasing Wilson when the NFL year kicks off on March 13th.

Here are Russell Wilson's next team odds and where I think he'll actually land:

Russell Wilson hasn't been very good the last two seasons, but he's still been better than the quarterback play the Steelers have received.

Even with Mason Rudolph, Mitch Trubisky, and Kenny Pickett logging games at QB for the Steelers last year, they still managed to win 10 games and make the playoffs. With an elite defense like they have in Pittsburgh, Wilson might be stabilizing enough to keep the the Steelers a Wild Card contender for the next few seasons. But, I doubt he makes them a serious threat to win the Super Bowl.

The Steelers don't have a lot of cap space to work with, though. So, if they decide to bring a guy like Russ in, players like Allen Robinson could be on the chopping block to free up the salary space.

Another wrinkle here, multiple league insiders have reported the Steelers 'are not' interested in bringing in a veteran QB like Wilson. Is that posturing? Or is it real?

Russell Wilson Recent Seasons

Wilson played the last two seasons with the Broncos, where his overall efficiency and production really took a dip. Sean Payton revived a bit of life into the 36-year-old QB in 2023, but not enough to warrant keeping Wilson in Denver for the next few years.

Wilson Next Team Pick: Vikings

I do think the Steelers are the obvious fit for Russ this offseason, but I think the Vikings are undervalued in these odds.

The Vikings have talent on both sides of the ball, but they're going to face a pivot point this offseason with Kirk Cousins set to hit free agency. Sure, they could retain Cousins with a massive contract. But, I see a very realistic path where the Vikings draft a QB in the middle of the first round (JJ McCarthy, Michael Penix) and bring a veteran for 1-2 years in front of the kid. Wilson would be a perfect fit for that role, keeping the Vikings competitive in the short term.
