The Miami Dolphins escaped with a 20-17 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday in Week 1 of the NFL season, and while their fans were likely relieved, there was one bettor who had an even bigger rooting interest.
A bettor at Caesars Sportsbook placed two massive six-figure wagers before the game on the Dolphins:
One bettor at @CaesarsSports wins TWO six-figure wagers after Dolphins win 20-17 on last-second 52-yard FG

$302,000 on Miami Dolphins -2.5 (-151)✅
$178,000 on Dolphins ML -178✅
Miami led for 0 seconds the entire game
The Dolphins trailed the entire game, including facing a 17-7 deficit late in the third quarter with the Jaguars inside the red zone. Running back Travis Etienne rushed for a first down to Miami’s 3-yard line and was potentially going to score a TD before he fumbled the ball into the end zone and the Dolphins recovered.
Miami went on to tie the game late in the fourth quarter and win on a game-ending 52-yard field goal from Jason Sanders. That means that the Dolphins were officially leading the game for zero seconds.
The bettor won $300,000 on the game off of $480,000 wagered, but it very easily could’ve been a loss of both wagers if one or two plays went another way.
That’s why they call it gambling I suppose. What a Week 1 sweat for that bettor.
