Ahead of Super Bowl 59, Eli Manning beat out his brother in FanDuel's Kick of Destiny 3: Manning vs Manning.
If you picked Eli over at FanDuel (like me), you won your share of $10,000,000 along with all the other Eli backers after the younger Manning drilled his second kick and Peyton went 0/2.
We'll be back next year for the next FanDuel kicking contest, but for now you can read up more on what Kick of Destiny 3 was and why I was backing Eli all along:
What is Kick of Destiny 3: Manning vs Manning?
For the third iteration of this Kick of Destiny event, participants pick which Manning brother will successfully complete a field goal during the Super Bowl 59 pregame show on FOX (starting at 3pm ET). Here are the basic rules:
- Peyton & Eli Manning will face off in a field goal kicking competition, starting at the 25-yard line
- If one brother makes the FG, they win
- The Mannings will go back-and-forth (moving five yards closer if both miss), until one hits and the other misses
For you to win this contest, you can pick which brother will win the field goal kicking competition over at FanDuel. The contest is free to join, and if you're correct you win a share of $10,000,000 with all other fans who successfully picked the field goal champ. You must join in the FanDuel app by 3:00 pm ET on Super Bowl Sunday.
RESULT: Eli Manning won on the second round of kicks!
Kick Of Destiny 3 Picks: Why To Pick eli Manning
Eli is honestly the clear pick for me in this Kick of Destiny 3 contest, for a few different reasons.
To start, Eli is five years younger than Peyton. While both brothers are long retired from the NFL, those five extra years of youth will provide an edge to the former Giants gunslinger.
Secondly, Peyton is easily the more popular Manning and that can work in our favor. As the more prominent media personality and (frankly) much better NFL QB, Peyton is likely to attract the majority of picks. If Eli prevails, we will enjoy a larger share of the prize as part of the smaller pool of winning bettors, maximizing our potential payout.
Also, Eli lives for this Super Bowl spotlight. The younger Manning is 2-0 on Super Bowl Sunday, defeating the GOAT Tom Brady twice in the big game. He's already pulled off a few clutch performances during the big game, so why not one more against his brother?
